Italian Research Base Antarctica

Channeling heat in extreme cold for a research base in Antarctica During the planning of the Italian research base in Antarctica, The Italian National Research Council (C.N.R.) knew the extreme temperatures meant it would be an enormous challenge to deliver the hot water reliably and efficiently in such extreme conditions. Thermaflex Austria, together with Thermaflex Italy, equipped the Antarctic research base with an efficient, reliable and sustainable hot water supply.

Driving smart, green development in Panama's hotel industry The beautiful Westin Playa Bonita oceanfront resort is situated just outside the city of Panamá, right in front of the Panama Canal. Its breathtaking location offers leisure and business travelers infinity-edge pools, various restaurants and a full featured work environment with meeting spaces and executive lounges. In order to minimize the operating costs of such energy-intensive facilities, engineering an efficient building complex including reliable and efficient piping systems was crucial for maximizing the return on investment.

Clean and sustainable heat for the Municipality of Lyngdal, Norway At the picturesque municipality of Lyngdal, which lies on the south coast of Norway, a project was planned to redirect waste heat from the BerryAlloc® wooden floor factory which would otherwise be lost energy, providing sustainable heat for parts of the town.

Haydau Monastery, DE

Flexalen PB-1 piping delivers heating and cooling to historic monastery hotel The Hessian heritage convent Haydau has been converted into an international conference complex with modern hotel facilities. The power source is almost completely undertaken by the biogas plant situated nearby, which delivers not only electricity and heating, but also provides cooling water for the hotel's air conditioning. The heating and cooling water is transported by an approximately two kilometer long Flexalen pre-insulated Polybutene-1 (Polybutylene, PB-1) piping system made by PBPSA member company Thermaflex.

Oberoi Rajvilas Hotel, IN

Flexalen PB-1 piping installed in one of the best hotels in the world The Oberoi Rajvilas, ranked as one of the best hotel in the world, is set in 13 hectare of landscaped gardens with pavilions and reflecting pools. Rooms, luxury tents and villas with private pools are clustered around private courtyards. Thermaflex India managed to secure an optimal solution for the Oberoi Rajvilas thermal energy distribution. 7 km of Flexalen pipes made from Polybutene-1 (Polybutylene, PB-1) for domestic cold and hot water supply as well as for chilled water for air-conditioning were installed in 3 stages.

Bogafjell, NO

Biomass heating in Bogafjell, Norway Bogafjell is a borough of the city of Sandnes located at the foot of the Bogafjell mountain, in Rogaland county, Norway. As part of Norway’s national policy to transition from fossil fuels towards renewable energy, the borough has implemented a thermal biomass-fueled district energy program from Thermaflex using a flexible, pre-insulated Flexalen piping system made from Polybutene-1, combined with Flexalink ready-made house connections. The abundance of a sustainable source of energy was readily available for Bogafjell, where the vast forests in the region supply bio-mass feedstock for the local energy system.
